Brise Vent de Havre

The brief of this competition were as follows: Re-use a already existing structure in the city of Le Havre, France and make it as museum. You could as a competitior choose freely which type of museum you wanted to design, We choosed to make this project a maritime museum.

This was a titanic assignment as the existing structure were around: 5000 m2 with a total length of around 240 meters. The structure has/had also a very interesting shape which made it very striking and unique. In this project, the structural elements needed to be intact.

We designed this project to have the following programme:

- Auditorium
- Restaurant
- Entrance with a cafeteria
- Cloakrooms
- Administration offices
- Office Archives
- Library
- 3 x permanent exhibition halls
- 3 x temporary exhibition halls
- Children area
- Outdoor movie area
- Outdoor activity area
- Sizeable park and outdoor area
- Floating gardens/ pathways
