House 7
Project type: Tiny house, Vertical garden, Private clients
Size: 30 m2
This project was the second project I participated in during my time at Fullscale studio in my fourth year at KTH Architecture. In this project we had clients, did all building permits and lastly built the houses.
The clients for House 7 wanted a allotment house with a lot of garden space and were very fond of Japanese architecture, which they wanted to see elements of in the design. They also wanted an opportunity to hold garden parties, which would give them the option to eat freshly harvested vegetables from the garden.
House 7 is characterized by that the allotment house has no supporting corners, a dense framework of c-c 600 mm, small window areas along the facades and that it is strongly inspired by both Peter Zumthor's design and the Japanese wood-burning technique Shou Sugi Ban. In the end it creates a very aesthetically pleasing composition as well as a very functional allotment house.
The project has a shed that houses a sink for washing vegetables as well as a main house that contains 3 sleeping beds for overnigth sleeping and a small storage room. The window surface along the facade limits the visibility from the main road, but also creates a very nice overhead light for the inhabitants.
